Tai Zwi

Our mindful movement classes (tai zwi) have been experienced by many as a moving meditation....

literally and energetically connecting the breath with the heart....
Physiologically, when we begin to deepen the breath, it naturally slows...and when that happens,
our heart rate slows as well---and becomes more efficient & restful----allowing a real shift to occur in our neurology (our nervous system which controls everything!)...
That shift is from GO GO GO mode (in science, that is called 'sympathetic nervous system action')--
to RELAX mode (we call this 'parasympathetic').
It is in this RELAX mode where restoration of all of the organs, tissues & cells takes place....
think of it as rest and rejuvenation time for your whole body, mind and spirit...

The reason for mindful movement (or moving meditation--call it what you will....)--
truly bridging the breath with the heart has to do with the BRIDGE!...
and that bridge is the nerve that goes to both the heart & lungs!

That nerve is called the 'vagus nerve' and its name is derived from Latin meaning "wandering"--since it 'wanders' all around.... from the brain....to the heart and lungs and beyond!....
